What does an archaeologist do?

Below is information found through the Archaeology for Kids Program of the National Parks Service.

Archaeology Digest: link to our digest about explorers and the items they took on their ships!

Good Websites on Archaeology

-Below are some websites are Archaeology and items used for exploring. You'll also find a description of what you might find on the site.

Down Like Lead: This site is about 400 years of shipwrecks. it will tell you how archaeologists explore sunken ships and what they would do with the artifacts.

Two facts I leared from this site:

  1. The main goal for an archaeologist is to retrieve information thatallows us to understand the past.
  2. Indians from Florida salvaged materials from early shipwrecks and sometimes captured survivors.

Latitude: Two things I leared on this site:

  1. After every expedition map-makers for kings, put together information from the most recent voyages of exploration.
  2. The master charts and maps were based on seperate local charts and maps.
