Proclamation of 1763

After the French and Indian war the Native Americans thought that colonists were still angry, and still wanted to have war. The Native Americans launched a "suprise attack" at the settlers. After this war 2,000 settlers, soldiers and traders were killed. To stop these attacks from the Native Americans and to protect the colonists Greart Britain declared that the Native Americans could have as much land as they wish west of the Appalachian Mountains. The proclamation also said that settlers could not move to this area. The settlers disliked this law and so moved west instead. They ignored the law. They thought that it was unfair that the British were controlling them.
