TORNADOES!              (run for your lives!!!!)

Below are pages for different teams to create about tornadoes. We will then vote as a group about which page, or pages, should be the front page of the Tornado section.

Your page should answer the following questions:

  1. How is a tornado made?
  2. What happens before, during, and after a tornado?
  3. When were some of the biggest tornadoes?
  4. What time of year do most tornadoes happen?
  5. What can a tornado do to people and their land?

Your page might also have the following information:

  • Links to other websites about tornadoes

What is a tornado?

Tornadoes are a column of air that is rotating (spinning) violently around. They form out of clouds in the sky, and travel down towards the ground. When the narrow part of the column touches the Earth, it picks up soil and debris that is nearby. Most tornadoes have wind speeds over 40 mph. They usually travel for a few feet before breaking up (dissipating). (some information from: wikipedia/tornadoes)
